Chioma Oruh on Barack Obama

← Back to Barack Obama Profile
In 2009, Chioma Oruh criticized the Obama administration's foreign policy, suggesting it perpetuated imperialism despite having a Black president.
Now we are doing imperialism with a black face.
In 2009, Chioma Oruh argued that Barack Obama effectively demobilized the anti-war movement by presenting himself as anti-war while simultaneously escalating military involvement in Afghanistan.
Barack Obama has silenced the antiwar movement almost single-handedly by his actions, on the one hand, saying that he opposed war and promoting to pull all troops from Iraq and, on the other hand, throwing the antiwar movement under the bus by sending 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. Keep in mind that the war budget is larger under Obama than it was under Bush. Obama has the same Defense Department Secretary as under Bush. Where is the change?
